The division works on research and development of Copper Vapour Lasers (CVL). These lasers operating at green and yellow wavelengths, can provide large average powers and are used for pumping dye lasers. These tunable dye lasers find widespread applications in spectroscopy, photo-chemistry, pollution monitoring and medicine. Laser Systems Engg. Division, RRCAT, has developed many models of Copper Vapour Lasers (CVL) such as Elemental Copper Vapour Lasers, Kinetically Enhanced Copper Vapour Lasers, Copper Bromide Lasers and Copper HyBrID Lasers. The average laser power from single unit range from 20 watts to 100 watts. The division is also working on Tunable Dye Laser, pumped by Copper Vapour Lasers and has developed tunable laser of line width ranging from 200 MHz to 3GHz. Copper Vapour Lasers have been standardized & many such units are supplied to other R&D institutes. |
