The laser system is time-shared with two workstations:

1.  Work station for Laser Cutting:

The facility involves 3.5 kW CO2 laser integrated with a beam delivery system and a 2½ axis CNC workstation.  The workstation is operated by Hinumeric 2000 Controller.  The job carrying capacity of this machine is 2400 mm x 1500 mm. The job can be processed at a maximum velocity of 5 m/min.

2.  Work station for Laser Rapid Manufacturing:

The facility involves 3.5 kW CO2 laser integrated with a beam delivery system and a 5-axis CNC workstation.   The workstation is operated by Siemens 810D controller. The workstation has processing volume of 250 mm x  250 mm x 250 mm in X, Y & Z directions, respectively. The rotary axis has a continuous rotation of 360°, while axial tilt ranges from -10° to 100°.  CNC workstation uses co-axial powder feeding methodology and  is primarily used for the fabrication and feasibility studies of various engineering materials. The workstation is equipped with machine tools
