Occupational safety: Employees of this laboratory are handling solvents, concentrated acids, alkalis and heavy metal salts. Hence, great emphasis is given on the personal safety as well as environmental safety. All sorts of safety gears such as masks, safety goggles, face shields, aprons, earmuffs, hand gloves, safety shoes and helmets etc. have been provided. To counter eventualities of chemical splashes, showers and eye wash stations are installed. Periodic occupational checkup of the employees is arranged by RRCAT medical centre to monitor the health of individuals.
A series of high capacity exhausts is installed to evacuate toxic fumes from the working area. To monitor toxic gases, SPM, RSPM and oxygen levels air monitoring systems are available, which include high volume sampler, online air monitoring Dragger pump, squeezer tubes etc.
