Separated Function Drift Tube Linac (SFDTL)

SDFTL modules are planned to be developed above 20MeV. A prototype SFDTL module (704MHz) in copper for high duty cycle is fabricated by EB welding and vacuum brazing.

Drift tubes fabrication with efficient cooling provision is also being developed with various fabrication techniques like vacuum brazing, EB welding and laser welding.

The other subsystems which are under development for SFDTL are

(1) Various types of drift tube alignment / mounting system: fig-8 shows girder type of drift tube alignment system under development.

(2) Remotely operated motorized alignments system for accelerator components

  • Cam roller motorized alignment system is developed. It has five degrees of freedom. A menu operated control/ drive unit for 5 axes movement is also under development.

(3) Piston tuner development (with cooling arrangement): For tuning of SFDTL cavity motorized piston/plunger tuner is also under development.(Fig-11)
