Beam Profile Monitor for Indus-2
Fluorescent screen beam profile monitors (BPM) have been developed and installed in electron storage ring Indus-2. The BPM is an interceptive device, which serves as a very useful tuning aid during the initial commissioning stage or re-commissioning after a major shut-down. in the Indus-2 ring. With the help of these monitors, the machine operators will be able to visually observe the beam position and size at different locations in the ring.
Critical design features of the monitor are: minimum beam coupling impedance, UHV compatibility, Uniform internal geometry of vacuum envelop, adjustable orientation of monitor, removal of fluorescent screen without breaking vacuum, pneumatically actuated screen movement.
