Low power amplifier modules

For higher frequencies, solid state amplifier development was started for fulfilling requirement of Indus-2 RF system. 10W driver amplifiers, developed at 505.8 MHz, for RF stations and distribution units of Indus-2 machine are performing satisfactorily. Operating experience obtained with Indus-2 RF amplifiers, triggered development of higher power RF gain modules, operating at 325, 352, 505.8, 650, and 704 MHz frequencies. At 325, 352 and 505.8 MHz, RF amplifiers were developed at 20W, 40W and 250W CW RF Power levels respectively, to cater different requirements. At 650 and 704 MHz, 100W and 250W amplifiers were developed with power gain of 13dB and 16 dB respectively.

Indus-2 Driver Amplifier at 505.8 MHz
40W driver amplifier at 352 MHz
300W Amplifier at 505.8 MHz
250W Amplifier at 650 MHz

All of these amplifiers use LDMOS-FET as workhorse. Impedance matching network is designed using coaxial transmission line transformer and microstrip transmission line. Apart from this, at 2856 MHz, 1-Watt amplifiers were developed with power-gain of 25 dB.

Using these modules kW level amplifiers were developed in due course of time as described below.
