Design of Dipole magnet for IRFEL (30MeV electron Beam)

The Beam Physics & FEL Lab plans to go for new dipole magnets in the XI plan. These dipoles are for dog-leg type bends for the next IRFEL. A 3D design was carried out using the TOSCA-3D code. The required integrated field uniformity and integrated higher order multipoles have been achieved by introducing the end chamfer at both the ends of the magnet. For the construction of the magnet TATA-A grade low carbon steel is proposed. Table 1 gives the specifications of magnet. Figure 1 shows the simulated magnetic field pattern inside the magnet core.
