Magnets for labs other than RRCAT

Dipole magnets for CLIC test facility at CERN

Fabrication and characterization of H-type dipole magnets (5 nos.) having magnetic length 518 mm (3 nos.) and 268 mm (2 nos.) were carried out. These magnets were fabricated using 1.5 mm thick low carbon steel procured from M/S Cockrell Sambre, Belgium. Table 1 shows the major parameters of magnet. Figure 1 shows the photo of 268 mm long magnet. Magnetic measurement was carried out using 3-axis hall probe manipulator. Group 3 make DTM 141 Hall probe was used to measure magnetic field. Field uniformity of 2.7 E-04 for a good field region of ±50 mm was achieved and is shown in figure 2.
